Swiss VIP charter operator VistaJet is on the verge of announcing a partnership with a Chinese aviation company, which will provide it with a Chinese air operators’ certificate (AOC).

Speaking with Flightglobal aboard one of the company’s Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft at the ABACE static line, chief commercial officer Ian Moore says the partnership will be with an established, growing company.

He declined to provide details about VistaJet’s partner, other than that the agreement will be announced in four to six weeks. He did however say that it will not be one of China’s private leasing firms.

The partnership will allow VistaJet to register aircraft in China, allowing clients – who buy jet usage in blocks of hours – to fly domestically. Initially, the company will deploy a Bombardier Challenger 850 in China.

The company is also very interested in selling international private jet hours to clients in China, says Moore, which are more profitable for the company.
