Comac has won commitments from Comsys (Tianjin) Aviation Leasing Company for 20 of its ARJ21-700 regional jets.
The Chinese leasing firm signed a letter of intent at Airshow China in Zhuhai on 11 November.
At the same time, the Republic of Congo’s transport ministry also firmed an order for three ARJ21s, comprising of two baseline passenger aircraft, and one business jet variant. It had previously signed a memorandum of understanding at the Farnborough air show in July for the three aircraft.
Today’s announcements bring the total commitment for the ARJ21 to 278 aircraft.
Comac is targeting to have its regional jet certificated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China by the end of the year. The programme has been delayed several times due to the Chinese airframer’s inexperience in both development and certification.
