ALC will be the provider of an Airbus A330-200 that Hawaiian Airlines intends to acquire next year.
“ALC is pleased to be leasing a second new A330-200 to Hawaiian Airlines,” Air Lease chief operating officer John Plueger says in a 22 July media release. “This aircraft will support Hawaiian’s expanding route network and long-haul frequencies.”
ALC will deliver the aircraft in the second quarter of 2016, it says.
Hawaiian confirms the A330 is the same aircraft it referenced in an 8 July media release.
In that release, Hawaiian announced it would lease an additional A330-200 as part of an updated fleet plan that also calls for accelerated retirements of its Boeing 767-300s.
The new aircraft will have Rolls-Royce’s Trent 772B powerplants, the same engines that power its other A330s.
Hawaiian’s fleet currently stands at 21 A330-200s, eight 767-300ERs, one 767-300 and 18 Boeing 717-200s, according to the Ascend Fleets database.
The carrier also has orders for six A330-800s, 16 Airbus A321neos and an additional two A330-200s, Ascend shows.
