Commercial aircraft net orders came in at 647 for December 2014 where 673 new orders were offset by 26 cancellations.

In the highlight of the month, China Aircraft Leasing ordered 100 Airbus A320 family aircraft including 74 for the neo variant. AirAsia ordered 55 units of the re-engined A330neo – the largest single order to date for the A330 family – and also ordered four A320neo aircraft. Aeroflot Russian Airline ordered 22 A320 family aircraft while Avolon Aerospace Leasing placed an order for 15 A330neo aircraft. The major cancellations of the month came from SpiceJet and Hawaiian Airlines who cancelled eight 737s and six A350s respectively.

New orders for Airbus totalled 468 while Boeing took in 174. Bombardier and Harbin received 29 and two respectively.

In the narrowbody market, 510 new orders occurred with 372 A320 family aircraft, including 255 for the neo variant and 138 737s, including 110 Max aircraft. In the widebody market, 88 A330s were ordered including 80 for the neo variant, while 20 777s, 16 787s and eight A350s were also ordered. The regional orders of the month were for 24 CRJs, five Dash 8s and two Y-12s.

Overall, the commercial aircraft order backlog ended December at 14,470, up 444 on the previous month.
