Aeroflot Russian Airlines has mandated French banks BNP Paribas and Calyon for the pre-delivery payments and long term financing of six new Airbus A321-200 aircraft.

CAO understands that both banks have been mandated by Aeroflot to finance three aircraft each as the Russian carrier has secured Export Credit Agencies guarantee for the six aircraft.

Last week, Aeroflot Russian Airlines said it was in talks with French banks on financing the six aircraft purchase. According to deputy general director finance and planning, Mikhail Poluboyarinov negotiations were also underway on guarantees for the deal from the export agencies.

Aeroflot currently operates a 55 Airbus A319/320/321 aircraft fleet. Earlier this month it added a new A320-200 on lease from GECAS.
