Air Niugini has selected Vector Aerospace as engine maintenance provider for its Bombardier Dash 8-200 and Q300 turboprop fleet.
The Port Moresby-based carrier signed a three-year MRO contract for the aircraft’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PW123D and -E engines.
Shop visits will be conducted at Vector’s Australian facility in Brisbane and a Canadian site in Summerside on Prince Edward Island, says the Toronto-headquartered maintenance specialist.
Air Niugini chief executive Simon Foo says the decision to the switch engine MRO provider for the fleet “was not taken lightly”.
Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows the carrier is operating 27 aircraft. Aside from the three Dash 8-200 and four Q300s covered by the Vector deal, Air Niugini also has six Q400s, an ATR 72 freighter, three Boeing 737s, two 767s, seven Fokker 100 regional jets, and a Dassault Falcon 900 business jet.
