Bahrain is looking for a fixed-base operation to take up a prime spot at its major international airport.

Plans for the new airport have been released and business aviation is one of the key target areas, says Yousif Mahmoud, head of the Bahrain International Airshow [stand 1183], who is at EBACE to promote the event taking place on 16-18 January 2014.

"With the causeway to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain is an ideal venue to reach directly to the Saudi market," says Mahmoud.

"Some 60% of chalets have already been sold and there is a lot of interest in the remaining places. Announcements about the new airport expansion and the focus on business aviation facilities there means that this is an ideal time to be looking at Bahrain."

Amanda Stainer, commercial director at Farnborough International, which organises the event on behalf of the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority, says the event is unique: "BIAS provides a totally personalised experience, with easy access to high-level delegations and the opportunity to meet with industry peers and customers."
