When Enzo Ferrari offered Niki Lauda the car in which he won his first Formula 1 championship in 1975, Lauda was thrilled...until he saw the version Ferrari had developed for the 1976 season.

The Austrian motor racing legend, Bombardier business aircraft brand ambassador and Global 6000 owner says he had a similar experience when he was shown the Global 7000; he decided to buy one on the spot.

He was at EBACE yesterday to announce the purchase of the ultra-long-range aircraft, which he will take delivery of in 2018, although he admitted: “I’d love to get it tomorrow.” A Global 7000 full mock up is on Bombardier’s stand. The three times Formula 1 champion uses his Global 6000 to travel between Formula 1 races as chairman of the Mercedes team. He has previously owned a Global 5000 and Challenger 300.

“The Global 7000 aircraft is an incredible business jet,” says Lauda. “The cabin is large and spacious and the four separate zones provide greater comfort, especially for longer trips. I can easily fly from Vienna to São Paolo, and almost all other stops along the Formula 1 circuit, quickly and efficiently.”

Peter Likoray, senior vice president, sales for Bombardier Business Aircraft, adds: “The latest order by Mr Lauda further demonstrates the widespread appeal of Global aircraft.”
