GECAS has agreed to lease three Boeing 737-800s to Air India Express.
The aircraft are to be delivered in 2016, and will come from GECAS’s existing orderbook.
Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that the carrier, a low-cost unit of Air India, operates a fleet of 17 737-800s that were built between 2006 and 2009.
The announcement follows the closing in January of a tender for the lease of up to five new 737-800s by Air India, on behalf of the budget unit.
