Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) has added the capability to conduct C4 heavy maintenance checks for the Airbus A380 aircraft.

Two A380s operated by Qantas Airways were the first of the type to undergo a C4 check at the company’s Manila hangar, the company adds in a statement.

The MRO firm notes that “early generation A380s” are approaching six years in service, which will see carriers aiming to schedule C4 check.

To accommodate the work, the company made adjustments to its hangar, including the additon of a fuselage docking system that runs along both sides of the aircraft. The system can be move up and down to access different parts of the double-deck aircraft’s fuselage.

The carrier adds that its C4 capability for the A380 has been approved by Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), and EASA.
