All Nippon Airways (ANA) has developed a new economy class seat with Toyota Boshoku.
The carrier says the seats will be introduced during the summer season on domestic services. It also intends to install a total of 1,560 seats on six Boeing 767-300 aircraft by fiscal year 2016.
The seats will be mounted in a 2-3-2 configuration, be 17.5in (44.5cm) wide, and have a 31in seat pitch.
ANA adds that the new seats was designed for comfort across a wide range of body sizes and types, based on Toyota Boshoku’s experience as a car seat manufacturer. An emphasis was also placed on the concept of pelvic support, maximum user-friendliness on the design and position of the tray tables and arm rests, and creating space through a functional design.
"The result is a passenger aircraft seat that will leave customers a lasting impression of ANA’s commitment to quality, value and comfort," it says.
