Lockheed Martin has rolled out the second F-35A Joint Strike Fighter which will eventually be used by the Royal Netherlands Air Force for pilot and maintainer training.

The conventional take-off and landing variant, airframe AN-2, will later be transferred to Eglin air force base in Florida to support the RNLAF's operational evaluation activities.

It will undergo functional fuel system checks before being transported to the flight line for ground and flight tests later this year.

The RNLAF's first example of the stealthy fighter made its maiden sortie on 6 August last year. It could eventually acquire as many as 85 examples of the type.
