Republic Airways Holdings has contracted Piedmont Aviation Component Services to overhaul the landing gear of its Embraer 175 fleet.

The US airline group has signed a seven-year MRO agreement with Piedmont, a Kernersville, North Carolina-based subsidiary of Israel’s TAT Technologies. The deal covers the group’s existing 160-strong E175 regional jet fleet and has a total value of around $45 million, says TAT.

Following the deal, Piedmont is extending its MRO capabilities to the Liebherr-made equipment. Its existing landing-gear maintenance services cover ATR 42/72 plus Bombardier Q-Series turboprops and CRJ100/200 regional jets.

“This contract will position us as a world leading maintenance service provider for Embraer 170/190 landing gear as the fleet is just entering [the] first wave of major overhaul requirements,” says TAT president Itsik Maaravi.
