Irish budget carrier Ryanair is to launch bases at Fez and Marrakech in Morocco this year, its first bases outside of Europe.

Ryanair will base two aircraft at Marrakech from where it will operate 22 routes. This includes seven new routes announced today to Baden and Munich in Germany, Bergerac, Dole, Paris Vatry and Tours in France, and Cuneo in Italy.

It will also base an aircraft at Fez. Ryanair is opening four new routes from the airport to the French cities of Lille, Nantes, Nimes and St Etienne. This will take to 15 the number of routes it serves from the airport.

As part of the expansion in the North African country, Ryanair is also adding its first flights to two other Moroccan cities. It will connect Brussels and Marseille with Essaouira, and Rabat with Brussels Paris and Marseille. These flights begin in April.

Ryanair, which also serves Agadir and Oujda in Morocco, will operate 60 routes into the country following the moves announced today
