A Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300 aircraft suffered an in-flight power loss in both engines on 23 May, but the crew restored normal operations and the aircraft landed without incident.
The aircraft, bearing registration 9V-SSF, was operating flight SQ836 on the Singapore-Shanghai route, says SIA. The incident occurred three and half hours into the flight in bad weather conditions.
“Both engines experienced a temporary loss of power and the pilots followed operational procedures to restore normal operation of the engines,” the airline adds.
“The flight continued to Shanghai and touched down uneventfully at 10:56pm local time…the engines were thoroughly inspected and tested upon arrival in Shanghai with no anomalies detected. We are reviewing the incident with Rolls-Royce and Airbus."
Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that 9V-SSF is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60EP engines. It is managed by BBAM LLC, and owned by Meridian Aviation partners. Airbus handed over the aircraft on 30 March 2015.
SIA operates 31 A330-300s, all with Trent 772B-600EP power plants. It has three additional A330s on order.
