Aerolineas Argentinas has tentatively agreed to order four Airbus A330-200s to reinforce the South American carrier's long-haul fleet.
Two of the jets will be introduced in the first and second quarters of 2015 and the deliveries will be complete in 2016.
The airline has confirmed the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the aircraft by Aerolineas president Mariano Recalde.
Aerolineas will configure the jets with 24 business-class and 248 economy-class seats.
It says the aircraft acquisition is in line with the fleet renewal plan set out by the government for development of the operator.
Earlier this year the carrier agreed to lease four A330-200s from ILFC, and received the first in September.
The Buenos Aires-based operator has also recently finalised a deal to take 20 Boeing 737-800s.
Aerolineas's long-haul fleet primarily comprises A340s but the airline says the A330s will cut fuel costs by 19.5% compared with its A340-300s, and by 13.5% against its A340-200s.
