Aeromexico has agreed to lease a new Boeing 787-9 from Air Lease.

The unit is scheduled to deliver in the autumn of 2016, confirms the lessor.

"The combination of range capability and passenger capacity makes this plane an optimal choice for their fleet many years into the future," adds ALC chief executive Steven Udvar-Hazy.

Aeromexico operates seven 787-8s, five of which are leased from AerCap.

Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows that the SkyTeam member has two more 787-8 deliveries scheduled for this year and will take six 787-9s between 2016 and 2019 from Boeing. It also holds four options for the 787-9 model.

The Mexican carrier's 787-8s will be configured with 32 seats in business and 211 in economy.

Its 787-9s will be configured with 49 seats in business and 228 in economy, Ascend Fleets shows.
