Airbus surpassed 1,000 net orders for the year to date by the end of the third quarter, after firming agreements for 170 aircraft.
British Airways' deal for 18 A350-1000s and Lufthansa's 25 A350-900s led the long-haul tally, alongside the 10 A330s for Delta Air Lines.
Budget operator Vueling firmed 62 A320s, while Delta's order for 30 A321s and lessor BOC Aviation's agreement for 25 narrowbodies accounted for the remainder.
These took gross orders for the airframer to 1,112 with a net total of 1,062 by the end of September.
Airbus delivered 445 aircraft over the first nine months of the year, including 14 A380s.
