Lessor CIT Aerospace is to acquire up to 30 Embraer 190s and 195s under an agreement which already includes 10 firm aircraft.
The Brazilian airframer said that deliveries of the twinjets would take place through to 2015.
It marks CIT's first agreement to take the type directly. Embraer said CIT's decision to join the E-Jet customer portfolio confirmed that the family had "achieved a high level of attractiveness for the top-tier investor community".
CIT transportation finance president Jeffrey Knittel said the acquisition would enable the lessor to offer an "even more diverse set of products" to customers.
"This order allows CIT Aerospace to continue to maintain one of the youngest and most technologically advanced fleets in the industry and will help us meet our customers' increased demand for this size of aircraft," he added.
