Chinese airframer Comac has set up a branch office in Sichuan, southwest China.

The Sichuan branch will have four main business areas: flight simulation training, aircraft maintenance, material support, and engineering and technical support, says Comac.

The branch’s main purpose is to have a comprehensive system to serve and support the introduction of the Chinese made ARJ21 with launch customer Chengdu Airlines.

The setting up of the branch also indicates that “preparation centering on the trial operation of the ARJ21-700 aircraft is accelerated”, says Comac.

Comac is targeting an end 2014 certification for its regional jet, and for delivery of the aircraft to launch customer to happen in the first half of 2015.
