Bangladesh’s Chittagong airport was forced to close to international flights for several days last week after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 skidded off the runway while landing on 1 July. Arriving at 08:52 from Dubai, the 16-year-old aircraft came to rest about 33m (108ft) from the airport’s only runway. None of the 214 people on board was injured, says the airline, adding that “it was not raining, but it was cloudy and foggy” when the incident occurred.
