Delta Air Lines plans to launch flights between Los Angeles International and Monterrey International airports from October, subject to government approval.

The Atlanta-based SkyTeam alliance carrier would fly either a 160-seat Boeing 737-800 or a 76-seat Embraer 175 operated by its regional affiliate Compass Airlines on the route, according to a regulatory filing on 10 March. Service would begin on or around 1 October.

The flights would operate under Delta's codeshare with Aeromexico.

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) granted Aeromexico authority to operate the Los Angeles-Monterrey route with 737 aircraft in September 2013. However, the airline does not appear to have ever begun service.
