Dnata acquires stake in UK-based online travel company

Dubai-based airport ground handling specialist Dnata has acquired a majority stake at UK-based online travel agency, Travel Republic.

The acquisition took effect on 28 December and business continues to be conducted under the Travel Republic brand.

Travel Republic recorded an increase of over 40% in its annual turnover for 2011 to over £400 million ($620 million), said Dnata.

Dnata's travel business divisional senior vice-president, Iain Andrew, said: "Travel Republic will complement our existing leisure and corporate travel services in Dubai and internationally."
