Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has intensified an effort to build on its existing aerostructures capabilities in the civil aircraft segment.
IAI currently manufactures the G280 for Gulfstream, but the downturn in the market for executive jets have left its design and manufacturing skills under-utilised.
It is now seeking co-operation agreements with other manufacturers to supply structures rather than build the entire aircraft, as in the case of the super-midsize Gulfstream.
IAI had previously hinted that it was seeking work on regional aircraft, but sources says this position has changed and negotiations are now in "more than one direction", in multiple locations.
Negotiations with potential customers are ongoing, it says, but declines to be more specific.
