The Indian government has approved the divestment of 10% of state-owned aircraft maker Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL).

The divestment will leave the government with a 90% stake in HAL, which builds a number of military aircraft types under licence and also produces sub-assemblies for international commercial aircraft programmes.

The government did not provide a timeframe for the divestment.
