Commitments announced during this year's Paris air show covered 1,051 order deals and options/purchase rights on 175 more. That takes total order commitments announced during the show to 1,226.
Of this business 352 deals were announced as firm orders. The remaining commitments are still to be finalised.
On top of that there were 229 conversions of existing orders, predominantly from the Boeing 737 Max 8 to the larger Max 10 model launched at the start of the show.
The order figure also includes 40 previously announced orders, such as Monarch Airlines’ 15-strong deal for 737 Max 8s and Ethiopian Airlines’s deals for A350s and Q400s, which were already logged by the manufacturers as unidentified customers.
New business outstrips the 742 total commitments secured during last year’s Farnborough air show and puts it roughly on a par with deals announced two years ago Le Bourget, once swaps are stripped out.
