Japan Airlines (JAL) and American Airlines will expand its codeshare agreement starting 27 January.

Under the agreement, JAL will add Rio de Janeiro to its international network and increase the number of codeshare services to and from Sao Paulo.

The Japanese carrier will place its code on flights operated by American from Dallas-Fort Worth airport and New York's John F Kennedy airport to the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The Oneworld alliance members first entered a joint business agreement in April 2011 to partner on trans-Pacific services.
