Japan Airlines domestic passenger traffic down 1.5% in December

Japan Airlines (JAL) has posted a 1.5% year-on-year decrease in domestic passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, for December.

The carrier's domestic capacity, as measured in ASKs, decreased by 2.9%, while its domestic passenger numbers decreased by 0.6% to 2.31 million. Its domestic load factor stood at 58.4%.

JAL's international passenger traffic for the month grew by 9.9% year on year. Its international capacity rose by 4.4% and international passenger numbers increased by 4.2% to 628,000. Its international load factor was at 74.8%.

The volume of international cargo carried climbed by 2.5% to 21,300t, while the amount of mail carried fell by 13% to 3,420t.

The carrier's total cargo carried on domestic routes decreased by 6.2% to 38,600t and total mail carried decreased by 6.7% to 2,830t.
