Latin American passenger traffic up 7.5% in September

Latin American carriers reported a 7.5% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic in September, according to the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA).

Capacity grew 2.5% year-on-year, while the passenger load factor increased by 3.6 percentage points to 77.9%, it says.

Passenger numbers rose 8% to 12.5 million during the month.

On a year-to-date basis, passenger traffic was up 8.1% year-on-year, capacity grew 6.5% and the passenger load factor increased 1.1 percentage point to 76.5%. Passenger numbers were up 7% to 111 million.
