Lockheed Martin has completed initial radar cross-section (RCS) testing of Northrop Grumman’s X-47B Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems (J-UCAS) demonstrator using a full-scale pole model that can be reconfigured to test changes designed to improve low observability.
Lockheed, which built the model in 13 months on company funds, says it is the first pole model that is modular and flexible, allowing large-scale physical changes. The model is being used as a design tool, rather than simply for signature demonstration.
