Australian airports operator Macquarie Airport Group has finally acquired from Italy's Leonardo Holding a 44.74% stake in Aeroporti de Roma (ADR) for €480 million ($444 million), as expected.

The company had agreed to the ADR purchase last year but subsequently sought final approval for the deal from the Italian Government.

Leonardo remains the controlling shareholder, with 51.2% of ADR, the operator of Rome’s Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.

Macquarie already owns stakes in Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport as well as Birmingham and Bristol airports in the UK.
