Russia's IrAero Airlines has placed 10 firm orders for Irkut's developmental MC-21 narrowbody.
The deal has a list-price value of some $720 million, and the aircraft are to be delivered between 2019 and 2022.
"We can place the MC-21 on some recently opened routes, such as those to Urumqi, Kaunas and other remote destinations," says Yuri Lapin, general director of the Irkutsk-based carrier.
"We also found that airports in Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don, Omsk, Moscow Domodedovo and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk can handle MC-21 flights, and we are going to fly this type to these destinations", he adds.
The airline specialises in regional services out of Irkutsk, but also conducts longer charter flights to Lithuania and China.
