Russian supplier Technodinamika has carried out initial tests of the fire-protection system for the Irkut MC-21.
Technodinamika says the test of the equipment, developed in co-operation with Curtiss-Wright Controls, has “fully confirmed” its declared capabilities.
It states that the performance of the system is “superior” to those of counterparts available on the Russian market.
The system is lightweight, it adds, through the use of composite materials and an optimised design.
Technodinamika adds that the system has a lifetime of 80,000h and has algorithms developed to protect against false-positive alerts.
While it has been developed for the MC-21, the company says it could be used in future for the Sukhoi Superjet, while its modular architecture means it has potential for installation on long-haul transports.
