VVIP charter company Royal Jet joined forces at the show today with Boeing and Bombardier, its two largest aircraft suppliers, to celebrate recent orders for two BBJs, a pair of Learjet 60XRs and a duo of Global 5000s.

Part of a $700 million spending spree, the orders will see its fleet almost double in size by 2020, growing from 11 to 20 aircraft.

The Abu Dhabi-based operator has already taken delivery of a midsize 60XR and a super-large Global 5000, both of which are being used for charter and medical evacuation missions alongside two Gulfstream G300s.

“These aircraft are flying all the time,” says Royal Jet acting president and chief executive Patrick Gordon. “We are looking forward to introducing the second 60XR and Global 5000 in January and April next year.”

Meanwhile, the two BBJ’s will be delivered "green" in September and December next year. The company is already the world’s largest operator of the VIP narrowbody with a fleet of six aircraft.

Gordon says Royal Jet is evaluating various new airliner types including the Airbus ACJ319 and Bombardier CSeries and the BBJ Max family. “We have a long way to go until we get to 2020 so we haven’t ruled out any of these aircraft.”
