Adding up to 267 more horsepower in some Cessna 208 and 208B Caravan models will cost $550,000, Blackhawk Modifications announced on 20 October.

The power upgrade with the 867hp Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-140 engine is expected to be approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration in March 2015, says the Waco, Texas-based aftermarket specialist.

The new engine replaces a 600/675hp version of the PT6A installed on non-Garmin G1000-equipped Caravans.

In addition to the new engines, Blackhawk is adding Ametek’s 325amp starter/generator, a Hartzell three-blade propeller and spinner, Howell digital/analog engine instruments, new wiring harnesses and a larger oil cooler and ducting.

The $550,000 price tag is inclusive of all modifications.
