Bombardier will outfit its new Challenger 650 jet with Lufthansa Technik’s NICE HDD cabin management and in-flight entertainment system.

The airframer has already selected the system for the Learjet 70, Learjet 75, Learjet 85, and Challenger 350 aircraft.

LHT has delivered more than 400 examples of the first-generation NICE system and the updated NICE HD to Bombardier. The HD version comprises a state-of-the-art cabin management system complete with largest-in-class high-definition monitors, 3D maps, audio and video on demand, Bluetooth integration and media input via USB and HDMI. The cabin systems can be controlled remotely with both Apple and Android devices.

The system was designed by Lufthansa and customised for Bombardier to provide passengers with “a home- or office-like control, productivity and entertainment capability superior to that of any other aircraft in the segment,” the company says.

The Challenger 650 is equipped with a multimedia system that allows users to store and play their own music, movies or other media. It also features the segment’s only digital rights management protected media license, which allows access to current films and entertainment.

Bombardier is demonstrating the nice HD system aboard a Challenger 650 mock-up at the 2014 NBAA static display. Similar cabin management systems will be operating on the Learjet 75 and Challenger 350 also on the static. Lufthansa Technik also is presenting the system at its booth.
