The inaugural Airbus A350 revenue service, operated by launch customer Qatar Airways, touched down earlier today at Frankfurt airport after a flight from Doha.
The 283-seat A350-900 operated Qatar Airways flight QR67 with a scheduled arrival time of 12:30. Its scheduled departure time for the return service – flight QR68 – is 15:25.
Qatar Airways took delivery of its first A350-900, one of 80 A350s it has on order, on 22 December 2014. It will initially deploy the A350 on a daily service between Doha and Frankfurt.
Speaking at the delivery ceremony in Toulouse, Qatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker revealed that the Oneworld carrier expects to take delivery of eight more of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-powered aircraft during 2015 and will gradually deploy the twinjet across the network, to other European destinations as well as to points in "the Far East, the Indian subcontinent and ultra-long-haul flights to the eastern seaboard of the USA".
