The A350 is part of a major fleet renewal by Vietnam Airlines, which also sees it take its first Boeing 787-9s this year.

By the end of 2015, the carrier will have taken delivery of four A350s, while it will also take five 787-9s from May onwards. It expects to complete delivery of its orders for both types by early 2019.

Vietnam Airlines holds orders for 14 A350-900s and 17 787-9s, Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows.

The airline plans to deploy its 787s on services from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to London in July, Frankfurt in November, and Tokyo Narita in early 2016. The A350s will also be deployed on Paris flights from October onwards, connecting it to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Both aircraft types will also serve the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route.
