Qatar Airways has become a surprise new customer for the Airbus A380, with an order for two aircraft plus two options. The deal, which comes as part of an order for five General Electric CF6-powered A330-200s plus three options, makes Qatar the ninth customer for the 555-seater. Qatar will receive its first 235-seat A330s in April next year, with the aircraft replacing its A300-600Rs. A380 commitments stand at 66 firm orders from nine customers, plus another 54 options.
