Qatar Airways has detailed its plan for introducing the Airbus A380 on its Doha-London route.
The carrier is to take delivery of its first three of 10 A380s in June, and the type will be used to replace the Airbus A340 in operating the QR001 service from Doha to London Heathrow and QR002 in the opposite direction, chief executive Akbar Al Baker revealed at the recent ITB travel trade show in Berlin.
QR001 is a same-day service that departs and lands in afternoon slots, local time, while QR002 is an overnight flight.
Qatar currently operates five daily services between the Qatari and UK capitals, using a mix of A330, A340, Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. In May it will add an all-business A319 daily service on the route.
