Russian airworthiness authorities have granted type certification to the Antonov An-158, a stretched version of the An-148 regional twinjet.
The An-158, with a range of 1,350nm (2,500km), has a longer fuselage and is capable of accommodating up to 99 passengers.
Russia's Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK) says the aircraft is able to operate in crosswinds of up to 29kt (54km/h) during take-off and landing. It adds that the An-158 is capable of International Civil Aviation Organisation Category IIIa approaches and meets precision area navigation criteria.
MAK handed over the type certificate during a ceremony in Kiev attended by the head of Ukraine's state aviation administration and the Ukrainian prime minister.
It has also supplemented the type certificate of the baseline An-148 by approving a version with an English-language cockpit.
