Saab's early 2017 order for an airborne early warning and control system aircraft involves an additional example of its GlobalEye product, company chief executive Håkan Buskhe has revealed.
"We were able to receive the order that we had expected last year for the GlobalEye – the third aircraft," Buskhe said during a first-quarter earnings call on 26 April. He did not reveal the customer for the platform.
Saab on 4 January announced its receipt of a roughly $236 million deal to supply an undisclosed airborne early warning system to an unnamed operator, saying that the platform and other services would be delivered between 2019 and 2021.

The United Arab Emirates in November 2015 became launch customer for the GlobalEye system, which combines Saab Erieye airborne early warning radar, a ground surveillance radar and other intelligence-gathering sensors aboard an adapted Bombardier Global 6000 business jet. Valued at around $1.27 billion, its order covered an initial two examples.
Beyond its recent order success, Buskhe says Saab's AEW&C products are receiving increased interest. "We foresee an increase in leads, and an increase in offers that we are sending out to different customers," he adds.
