Singapore Airlines' (SIA) passenger traffic, as measured in RPKs, grew by 7.7% in September, compared with the same month in 2011.
The number of passengers carried by the airline increased by 6.1% to 1.5 million, says the Star Alliance carrier.
The carrier's passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, grew by 6.3%, while its passenger load factor rose by 1 percentage point to 80.6%.
SIA adds that the passenger load factor for routes serving the east Asia region declined as capacity increases outpaced growth in traffic.
Passenger traffic of SIA's subsidiary, SilkAir, increased by 13.9%, while its capacity rose by 18.4% and passenger numbers grew by 6% to 249,000. The carrier's passenger load factor decreased by 2.8 percentage points to 68.9%.
SIA Cargo's overall traffic, as measured in freight tonne kilometres, decreased by 4.2%, while capacity declined by 4.8%. Its cargo load factor rose by 0.4 percentage points to 64.1%.
The overall passenger and cargo load factor for the SIA group increased by 0.9 percentage points to 69.8%.
