UK government funds training at Airbus's Filton site

Airbus is to receive £1.4 million ($2.21 million) from the UK government to help fund training at its Filton, Bristol site in order to grow engineering capabilities at the wing component manufacturing facility.

The money is drawn from the government's Regional Growth Fund overseen by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).

Airbus will recruit 200 workers for the programme. So far the it has attracted 172 employees "with the remainder due to be recruited by the summer", BIS adds.
