Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris has signed a provisional agreement with Airbus for 44 A320 family aircraft, including 30 A320neo aircraft.
The memorandum of understanding, which makes Volaris the first A320neo customer in Mexico, covers 30 A320neo aircraft and 14 current generation A320 aircraft.
The carrier says an engine selection will be made at a later date.
Engine offerings for the A320neo include the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G and CFM International Leap-1A.
Volaris did not indicate an engine selection for the 14 current generation A320s. The airline's current fleet of A320s are powered by International Areo Engines V2500s.
Volaris currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of nine A320 and 24 A319 aircraft and holds orders for 15 more A320s.
