Mexican low cost carrier Volaris is continuing its US expansion with the launch on 15 July of daily flights from Mexico City and Guadalajara to San Diego.

San Diego becomes Volaris' seventh US destination. Since 13 December 2010 Volaris has launched new service to Chicago Midway, Las Vegas and Fresno, California, joining the carrier's existing US cities of Los Angeles, Oakland and San Jose.

Volaris and Southwest recently enlarged the number of cities covered under their partnership to 26 cities in Southwest's US Midwest network and in the North East. Passengers from those cities can now connect on Volaris flights between Chicago Midway and Guadalajara.

The expanded agreement also includes 20 Southwest cities in the carrier's western and southwestern network. Passengers from those cities now have the ability to connect on Volaris flights from Las Vegas to Guadalajara.

Southwest and Volaris launched their connecting partnership late last year, initially with passengers from 20 Southwest cities connecting to select Volaris destinations -- Cancun, Guadalajara, Morelia, Toluca/Mexico City, and Zacatecas - through Volaris flights from Los Angeles, San Jose and Oakland.

Volaris in February of this year requested authority to serve 23 transborder routes.
