France and the USA have concluded open skies negotiations, resulting in approval for unlimited flights between any point in either country for national carriers. This change will chiefly benefit Delta Air Lines and Air France, whose SkyTeam alliance is also to be exempted from US anti-trust regulation. Delta says that the result will be greater synchronisation of flight schedules and more convenient departure times. Responsibility for negotiating European open sky bilaterals will transfer to the European Commission later this year.
