Bulgaria’s deputy defence minister Simeon Nikolov witnessed a test last month of a Bulgarian helicopter defence system designed to counter rocket-propelled grenades. The concept – being developed as part of a NATO’s Counter-Terrorism Technologies Programme – uses a set of shield plates, created from a unique alloy, which are mounted on to the helicopter.
