Flight Dynamics and Dassault Aviation are now close to reaching agreement on certificating the HGS-3000 head-up guidance system on the Falcon 900EX.
The certification time-scale has yet to be decided for the new application, which follows the continuing Falcon 2000 HGS effort. The twin-engined Falcon 2000 is expected to receive US Federal Aviation Administration certification to Category II operations with the HGS by the end of this month, with further clearance to Cat IIIa by the end of 1996.
Flight Dynamics has also received orders for HGS to equip corporate versions of the Dornier 328 to be flown by Corning and Prince Industries. The system gained FAA certification to Cat II operating limits in March, and is expected to get Cat IIIa clearance "by the end of 1996", says the company.
The European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) has, meanwhile, recommended to its member states that the Flight Dynamics HGS-equipped Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet be approved for certification to Cat IIIa approach minima. The approval follows FAA and Transport Canada certification obtained in December 1995. An HGS will be fitted to Xerox's corporate version of the Regional Jet.
