A poor orderbook for its Avro RJX led BAE Systems to cancel the programme, but despite similarly low orders Boeing has vowed to continue production of its 100-seat 717. Shutting the RJX line will cost BAE, in addition to other restructuring measures, £400 million ($580 million). Boeing, which had been widely expected to close the 717 line, will reduce output of the twin-jet from its current level of five per month to around two. It has firm orders for 137 717s with 90 delivered so far.
